Canada is introducing new Home Care Worker Immigration pilots to make it easier for home care workers to gain permanent residence and find work with various employers.
Key Highlights
- Two Streams:
- Workers in Canada (applications open March 31, 2025)
- Applicants not working in Canada (opening later)
- One-step permanent residence for qualified workers and their families
- Lowered requirements:
- Language: CLB/NCLC level 4 (English/French)
- Education: High school diploma (or equivalent)
- No prior Canadian work experience needed, but applicants must have:
- At least 6 months of recent, relevant work experience OR
- A credential of at least 6 months in home care training
- Job Offer Requirement: Must have a full-time home care job offer in Canada (outside Quebec)
Flexible Employment Options
Workers can be employed by:
✔️ Private households
✔️ Home health care service providers
✔️ Direct care agencies
✔️ Pediatric home health care providers
❌ Recruitment or placement agencies are not eligible employers
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, applicants must:
✅ Have CLB/NCLC 4+ in English or French
✅ Have a high school diploma or higher
✅ Have 6+ months of relevant work experience or caregiver training
✅ Have a full-time home care job offer in Canada
🚫 No Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) required
For Those Who Applied to Previous Pilots (Before June 17, 2024)
- Applications are still being processed
- Those in the Gaining Experience category can submit proof of eligible work experience
For Home Care Workers Without Status in Canada
- May still qualify under a public policy (limited spots available)
