- Francophone Minority Communities Student Pilot (FMCSP) Program
Set to launch on August 26, 2024, the FMCSP program targets French-speaking international students, particularly from Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas. This innovative approach addresses historical challenges in study permit approvals for these regions.
Key features of the FMCSP include:
- Exemption from demonstrating intent to leave Canada after studies
- Reduced financial requirements (75% of local low-income cut-off)
- Direct pathway to permanent residency post-graduation
- Access to settlement services during studies
- A cap of 2,300 applications in the first year
Unlike the general international student program, the FMCSP is not subject to the overall study permit cap introduced earlier this year. This exemption underscores Canada’s commitment to Francophone immigration.
2. Expansion of Welcoming Francophone Communities (WFC) Initiative

This expansion is supported by a $50 million investment in the Francophone Integration Pathway, with $11 million specifically allocated to the WFC initiative.
